I’m excited to be heading out on 19th January to support the Scottish Men’s National Team at the South African Amateur, hosted at Pretoria Country Club, with the tournament running from 25th to 30th January.
A huge thank you to Scottish Golf for the opportunity, and to the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation for their continuing financial support of Scottish Golf’s performance programme, without which trips like this wouldn’t be possible.
Experiences like this are hugely important for player development, giving players exposure to international competition, different conditions, and the demands that come with performing away from home. They play a key role in helping players build resilience, sharpen decision making, and gain experience in high level tournament environments.
The players representing Scotland are:
Dominic McGlinchey
Ewan Farquhar
Finlay Galloway
Kiron Gribble
My focus will be supporting the players from a tactical and performance perspective, helping them prepare, adapt, and make confident decisions throughout the week as conditions and situations change.
Experiences like this also provide excellent learning opportunities, helping me gain insight, perspective, and experience that can be brought back into future preparation and development. Working in international tournament environments continues to shape how I support players when it matters most.
It’s great to be working alongside National Coach Scott Wilson and John Rushbury, who will be acting as Team Captain. I also feel privileged to be representing Scotland and Archerfield on an international stage.
It would be great to have your support and for people to follow our progress throughout the week. Scoring and tournament updates can be followed via the official South African Amateur website: https://www.golfsouthafrica.co.za
