Introduction

Something I’ve found interesting over the years since TrackMan launched their Putting software is how few Players are aware that TrackMan “does” Putting.

Having thought about why, I believe it’s because there aren’t many Coaches that use the software regularly, hence it’s difficult for Players (and Coaches) to really determine what the data is telling you.

As I’ve used software extensively over the last few years for both Coaching and Custom Fitting, I thought I’d share my insights to hopefully encourage others to use the software more often.

The Data

As you’ll see I’ve gone through each Parameter and provided a Definition, Optimal and Consistency/Variability Figures (when appropriate) as well as my insights/experiences.

My figures are based upon on 10-15 Foot Putts and TrackMan Tour Player data. However, a lot comes from my experience and thus remains unvalidated when looking through a “scientific” lens (the results I’ve enjoyed with Players has been very positive so far though 😉).

I’ve categorised the parameters using ability as such:

  • Beginner: 20+ Handicap

  • Intermediate: 6-20 Handicap

  • Advanced: < 5 Handicap

Notes:

  • There’s plenty here to digest so remember, when Putting we’re simply looking to optimise Pace/Distance, Green Reading/Break Prediction and Start Direction (relative to your target and environment).

  • I recommend choosing 1-2 parameters and experimenting.

Hope it helps and I’m looking forward to some interesting discussions 😉

Thanks for Reading!
